Having a BBQ is a fun way to get loved ones together during the warm summer months. Nothing says a reunion like the sizzling scent of something delicious cooking while the sun is shining. If you want to host a BBQ and impress your guests with appetizing options, there are a few things to keep in mind when considering how you’re going to cook a variety of foods.

Gas Grill

A gas grill will be the best option to cook chicken on because it is the easiest to control the level of heat. Since chicken cooks best on low heat, you’ll want this controllable method of cooking.

Vegetables also do very well on a gas grill. When preparing your veggies, make sure to slice them evenly so they will cook thoroughly. Toss them in olive oil and your favorite seasoning before placing them on the grill – this way they won’t dry out as they cook.

Charcoal Grill

A charcoal grill will be ideal for cooking your red meats, such as burgers and steaks. Since these types of meats prefer high heat, they’ll be less likely to overcook on charcoal.

The charcoal itself can be interesting to work with. You’ll want to make sure the charcoal has been burning for a few minutes before putting any food over it. Ideally, you will place the food on the grill once there is barely any black left on the charcoal.

Smoker

Cooking food via a smoker requires some commitment. You’ll want to allow adequate time to smoke your meat. Most meats can take anywhere between 4 to 8 hours to properly smoke. Boston butt, brisket, and ribs cook best in the smoker.

In addition to being a grill master when it comes to meats and vegetables, there are lots of other sides that pair well at BBQs. Some of those include potato salad, mac and cheese, pasta salad, a variety of dips, and cold, juicy watermelon. So, whether you’re flipping burgers on the grill or keeping guests’ sweet teas topped off, it’s the best time of year to entertain your people via a BBQ.
