Dethatching

Dethatching your lawn is a useful approach to removing debris, dead grass, and other elements that have built up on the surface of your grass. This method gives the healthy, organic soil a chance to breathe and revitalize. 

Dethatching is an in-depth, detailed lawn raking. To dethatch your lawn, you’ll want a specialized dethatching rake to dig into the dirt. While raking, you will notice the thatch separate from the soil. This is ideal! Keep raking until all the thatch and soil are loosened and separated. Remove the buildup and enjoy the healthy yard you’ve cultivated.  

Aeration

Aeration is the process of digging holes in a lawn to relieve the compaction of the soil and increase the flow of water, air, and nutrients to underground roots. Since aerated grassroots dig deep into the soil, it’s important to shovel far down to ensure they’re all removed. 

If you’re not ready to invest in your own aeration machine, many lawn and garden stores rent them for a fair price. Most rental shops also provide general directions to operate the machine. While aerating is similar to mowing, it’s important to go over the lawn multiple times to ensure well-worn areas are covered. 

Seeding

Routinely seeding your yard is important for maintenance. Laying the seeds can be done over existing grass, without tearing anything up, for the preservation of your lawn. Seeding will work to fill in bare spots, improve density, and intensify the lively color of your yard.
